  • 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM
  • MAKERSPACE North Bay 216, 250 City Centre Avenue Ottawa, ON K1R 6K7

A neat event scheduled for this World Water Day, on March 22, 2017!

If you're passionate about, or even interested in water issues this event is for you!

City Councillor David Chernushenko is a confirmed speaker at the event! He currently chairs the City of Ottawa’s Environment and Climate Protection Committee and has spent most of his working life promoting prosperous communities and healthy livelihoods.

Barbara King, Executive Director of Watersheds Canada, and Meera Karunananthan , Blue Planet Project Director from The Council of Canadians, will be speaking at the event. Barbara became the Executive Director in 2012 and has worked to revitalize the organization through implementing a “grass roots” approach to delivering shoreline stewardship programs. Meera leads the Blue Planet Project, which is a global initiative by the Council of Canadians working with partners around the world to achieve water justice based on the principles that water is a human right, a public trust, and part of the global commons.

A live demonstration by Ottawa Riverkeeper's chief Scientist, Dr. Meaghan Murphy will teach participants how watersheds work.

You will also have the opportunity to mingle with diverse water professionals, and the chance to win prizes! Pizza, beverages and prizes will be provided.
