Building Safe Streets and Healthy Communities

This strategy session is about working together to promote healthy communities and safe streets that prioritize walking, cycling and public transit for all users, ages and abilities. In other words, it's about "Complete Streets".

City of Ottawa staff have been doing some thinking on how best to implement Ottawa's new Complete Streets policy and they have agreed to provide an update on a potential "Complete Streets Implementation Plan" in order to gauge public support and feedback. This will be an interactive session and we will reserve plenty of time for questions, comments, and clarifications, so please RSVP below and join us.

Ecology Ottawa will also be releasing a draft of our own Complete Streets Action Plan. This Plan outlines the ideas that were presented at the Complete Streets Strategy Forum held back in March 2014, where we heard from 5 city councillors and over 60 community leaders on how we can continue to improve cycling infrastructure, walkability, and public transit use under the newly adopted Complete Streets policy.

This is a public event, so please do help spread the word, but space is limited so people must RSVP.
